Apple TV+ has dropped the first trailer for their upcoming crime-thriller, Defending Jacob. Honestly, I had absolutely no idea this was even in the works but man was I pleasantly surprised to discover it, especially because it stars Chris Evans. Defending Jacob is based on the 2012 bestselling novel of the same name and is created by Mark Bomback, who co-wrote Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War For the Planet of the Apes. Apart from the fully-bearded Chris Evans, the series also stars Michelle Dockery, Jaeden Martell, Cherry Jones, Pablo Schrieber and J.K. freaking Simmons.
The series will follow Andy Barber (Chris Evans) a district attorney whose life is turned upside down when his high-school son Jacob (Jaeden Martell) is the prime suspect of his classmate’s murder. The trailer is highly engrossing and it looks like the show is going to be character-oriented and will also double as a commentary on how the media discusses these type of cases.
