In addition to public transport, banks are having the their opening hours adjusted during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period too. Most of the major banks in Malaysia have announced temporary changes to their operating hours. Surprisingly, this includes their self-service terminals like automated teller machines (ATMs) and cash deposit machines (CDMs) as well. As you’d expect, these changes will be in effect until 31 March 2020.
Generally, most banks will only be operating until 3PM daily, with different start times. Maybank seems to be the exception, with its branches opening only until 2PM. Then there’s the weekend difference that applies to a number of states, particularly Kelantan and Terengganu, and occasionally Johor. Some outlets are outright closed until the end of the MCO as well.
Then there are the self-service terminals, like ATMs and CDMs. While not all banks have changed the operating hours of these machines, those that do seem to have them between 7AM and 10PM. It’s still quite a big time frame, and definitely enough for those who are awake when the sun is up.
For the operating times of individual bank branches, you’ll have to check out their schedules on their own respective sites. We’ve linked a few of them down below.
