Even before the Movement Control Order (MCO) period started, many people have begun to embark on panic buying. Hence, many food products were snapped away immediately including bread.
When it comes to bread, one of the most well-known name in Malaysia is Gardenia. As big as the company might be, it turns out that even Gardenia couldn’t cope with the demand from consumers during this on-going MCO period.
In a reply on its Facebook page, Gardenia Bakeries KL who is responsible for Gardenia products in Peninsular Malaysia* has thanked everyone that has notified them regarding the scarcity of its products throughout the region. However, Gardenia also admitted that there is nothing the company can do at the moment since all of its factories have reached their maximum threshold.
With that, we suppose most of us have to wait until things are back to normal to taste Gardenia bread again. While we are waiting for that, do make sure that you do your part in combating COVID-19 by practicing good hygiene and stay home as much as you can throughout the MCO period.
Gardenia products in Sabah and Sarawak are produced and managed by a totally different company. Here’s the full explanation.
