Huawei’s launch of its P40 series is set to take place in three days, yet leaks and rumours are still making their way online. In this case, the most recent rumour suggests that the P40 Pro’s main camera will feature a 50x zoom function.
The rumour comes by way of popular tipster Ishan Agarwal (@ishanagarwal24), who recently leaked a bunch of purported information about the P40 Pro on Twitter. Regarding the phone’s zoom capabilities, he alleges that the main camera’s 50x zoom function will be controlled via SuperSensing Zoom and telephoto stabilisation.

By comparison, the zoom effect is just half what the Samsung’s Space Zoom on the Galaxy S20 Ultra is capable of, but to be fair, the latter’s feature produces mediocre results. And seems more a gimmick than anything else. Having said that, it would still be interesting to see how Huawei will address this feature.
Agarwal’s tweet also mentions the main camera’s Leica Ultra Vision quad-camera setup. Comprising a 50MP sensor, one 40MP, a 12MP, and a Time of Flight (ToF). As for the selfie camera, the image renders provided seem suggests that the phone will flaunt a combination of both a 32MP sensor and depth sensor. Which could end up producing more realistic selfies with more mouth-watering bokeh effects.
Further, the P40 Pro will also reportedly support 40W wired charging and wireless fast charging, and come with a 4200mAh battery. Lastly, the phone’s display will measure in at 6.58-inches, but Agarwal falls short of providing its actual resolution.
In any case, we’ll just have to wait until 26 March to learn more about the phone.
