It felt as if it was just yesterday that Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 8 series in Malaysia, even though the launch event actually took place back in October. Now, there is a possibility we might see another new Redmi Note device soon in our market as the company today has officially announced the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max.
Equipped with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ IPS display, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is powered by the 8nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor. Available with up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, it can also be obtained with up to 128GB UFS2.1-based storage that can be expanded further with up to 512GB microSD card.
Photography-wise, the phone relies on a RAW-enabled quad-camera module which features a 64MP sensor on its main camera. It is also accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera as well as 5MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor in addition to a 32MP in-display selfie camera on the centre top part of the phone’s screen.
In addition to a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max still comes with a 3.5mm audio jack and IR blaster. Completing its general specifications is a 5020mAh battery which is said to be the largest ever on a Redmi device and supports 33W fast charger.
At the same time, Xiaomi has also announced the Redmi Note 9 Pro which shared plenty of features with its Max sibling including Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, and 5020mAh battery. It still can be obtained with a maximum storage of 128GB, the RAM option for this model peaked out at 6GB.
As opposed to Redmi Note 9 Pro Max which features a 64MP main camera, the Redmi Note 9 Pro main camera comes with lower-resolution 48MP sensor instead. The phone still features 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro cameras as well as 2MP depth sensor just like Note 9 Pro Max.
In India, the new Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is priced at INR 18,999 (~RM 1,090) for the 8GB/128GB variant while the unit with 6GB/128GB and 6GB/64GB setup will be available for INR 16,999 (~RM 975) and INR 14,999 (~RM 860) respectively. As for Redmi Note 9 Pro, it carries a price tag of INR 15,999 (~RM 918) and INR 12,999 (~RM 745) for the 6GB/128GB and 4GB/64GB variants respectively.
For now, it is not known whether Xiaomi is planning to launch the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Redmi Note 9 Pro in Malaysia. We’ll keep you updated once we hear any update from Xiaomi but then again, there are still the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro which is going to be the first Xiaomi 5G phones in Malaysia.
