It’s been nearly a year and half since we last heard the news regarding remasters of Westwood Studios’ critically acclaimed strategy titles, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and Command & Conquer: Red Alert. The good news is that both remastered titles are nearly done and will be launching in June this year.
To recap, the tasking of remastering the two titles had fallen into the hands of Petroglyph Games, a video game studio comprising of several developers who initially worked at Westwood Studios. In addition, Petroglyph Games would also be receiving some help from the Malaysia-based company, Lemon Sky Studios.
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because the company has had its hands in other titles. Including Starcraft: Remastered, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Bloodborne, to name a few.
The Command & Conquered Remastered Collection will be purchasable on 6 June 2020. The game will be available on the PC via Steam and EA’s Origin platform. On a side note, the price of the game varies greatly depending on the digital platform you use; on Steam, the collection retails for RM79, but on Origin, it starts at US$26.90 (~RM113) for the standard edition, US$59.99 (~RM254) for the special edition, and US$149.99 (~RM636) for the 25th anniversary edition.
For those among you planning on getting the special or 25th anniversary edition, it shouldn’t surprise you that these special editions will come with a variety of goodies, both digital and physical. This includes a 16GB USB drive shaped like a Tiberium crystal and containing the remastered collection of the games’ original soundtrack, among others.
