Of all the Disney+ series that are planned, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is perhaps the one I’m looking forward to the most. It’s supposedly going to be a James Bond-esque espionage action-thriller and I’m all for it. Unfortunately, it looks like the production is cursed.
Previously, the Marvel/Disney+ series had a planned shoot in Puerto Rico cancelled due to a 6.4 magnitude earthquake. Now, production of the series has completely halted due to the coronavirus outbreak in Prague, Czech Republic. Per Deadline:
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier from Marvel has shut down production there because of concerns over the virus, whose global spread has the entire world on alert. The show has been shooting for months in Atlanta, but they began a short shoot in Prague last Friday that was to be completed in about a week. Today, the studio shut down the production and called everybody home to Atlanta. No word at the moment whether the show will return to Prague, but it seems unlikely.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as Falcon and Winter Solider respectively, which are of course the characters they’ve been playing in the MCU. Emily VanCamp and Daniel Bruhl are also reprising their MCU roles. The series is written by Derek Kolstad (John Wick), Michael Kastelein (Truth Be Told), and Malcolm Spellman (Empire), with direction from Kari Skogland (The Punisher). Kevin Feige serves as executive producer, alongside Spellman and Zoie Nagelhout (Black Panther).
