Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin earlier today announced the appointment of Saifuddin Abdullah as the new Minister of Communications and Multimedia. At the same time, Zahidi Zainul Abidin has also been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia in the new Cabinet lineup.
Prior to his appointment today, Saifuddin served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from July 2018 until the recent dissolution of the Cabinet late last month that was caused by several unprecedented events within our political space in which Saifuddin himself was part of as well.

Over the years, Saifuddin has previously been appointed as the Deputy Minister for Ministry of Higher Education as well as Ministry of Entrepreneur and Co-operatives Development. Meanwhile, it is still too early to know whether the MP of Indera Mahkota will continue the work that has been established by the previous minister, Gobind Singh Deo.
Among notable initiatives that came from previous administration includes the realization for faster Internet at better pricing as well as the push for better connectivity through National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan (NFCP) and 5G technology. Well, let’s see how it goes this time around then.
