Interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir today has announced several initiatives that are collectively called as the 2020 Economic Stimulus Package in order to boost the national economy that has been affected by the recent Covid-19 outbreak. Worth around RM 20 billion, a part of it has been allocated for domestic tourism.
Interesting enough, some of these allocations will be distributed directly to Malaysians via digital means. Specifically, Malaysians will receive RM 100 worth of digital vouchers that be used for domestic flight, train journey, and hotel stay.
That being said, the exact detail on how this RM 100 digital voucher will be distributed to the Rakyat is not yet known since it was not revealed by the Prime Minister during his announcement. Since it is going to be a digital voucher, we predict that it could be distributed through the on-going E-Tunai Rakyat program.
But of course, let’s wait for further confirmation. We’ll keep you posted, so stay tuned.
