Even though the Mobile World Congress 2020 have been cancelled to the current outbreak of coronavirus, plenty of companies soldiered on and held briefings or launch event on their own. Among them is Qualcomm who have shifted its briefing to San Diego.
The briefing revolves around 5G which is not surprising given that 2020 can be generally seen as the year for the next-gen wireless technology. Among several main topic that the company touches on is of course, its spanking flagship mobile processor, the Snapdragon 865.
According to the company, plenty of brands have adopted its flagship chip which was first revealed to the world back in December 2019. In fact, some of these brands already begin to release their Snapdragon 865 5G phones into the market but what more interesting is that Qualcomm has also showed a list of upcoming phones that will carry the processor on stage.
Many of them have been teased by their respective creators though such as the Black Shark 3, Legion Gaming Phone, Nubia Red Magic 5G, OPPO Find X2, realme X50 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro, vivo APEX 2020 Concept Phone, and ZTE Axon 10s Pro.
Nevertheless, there are two surprising entries in the list: the ROG Phone 3 and ZenFone 7 from ASUS. While we not surprised that the Taiwanese company is developing these two phones given the critical reception that both phones received last year, we certainly didn’t expect that ASUS would slip in their name into Qualcomm’s presentation this early.
Well then, we’ll keep you posted once we heard more updates regarding all the Snapdragon 865 5G phones that Qualcomm has mentioned at its briefing. So, stay tuned.
