Despite the cancellation of Mobile World Congress 2020 due to coronavirus concerns, Huawei was determined enough to organize a launch event at Barcelona. Over there, the company has announced several new products including the new Mate Xs foldable phone which is the successor to the Mate X that the company launched last year.
While Mate X was not released in Malaysia even though it made an appearance at the 5G Malaysia Showcase, things are different for its successor though. This is because Huawei Malaysia has confirmed that the Mate Xs will be made available in Malaysia on 20 March:
However, the company didn’t reveal the price for the foldable 5G phone in our market for the time being though. Even though it is likely that the price in Malaysia is much lower than in Europe which was EU 2,499 (~RM 11,445), we expect that it will still carry a hefty price tag over here.
Powered by the Kirin 990 5G processor, the Mate Xs is not exactly an all-new device but rather an improvement over the original Mate X. Still featuring the Falcon Wing design from Mate X, Huawei stated that the hinge and display on Mate Xs are now much stronger while the device also has longer battery life than its predecessor despite having the same battery capacity.
