Tesco Stores Sdn Bhd has launched their new Scan & Shop app on 21 February 2020. The app allows customers to efficiently keep track of their shopping, and self-checkout faster at the brand’s stores nationwide.
Basically, the app lets customers scan the items that they wish to purchase, which will then add up to a virtual bill. Once they’ve confirmed their list of purchases, Scan & Shop will generate a checkout barcode to be used at self-service or cashier counters.
Additionally, the app will also inform if Tesco is offering a discount on promotion on certain items. If customers no longer wishes to purchase a certain item, they can simply remove it from the in-app shopping list which then will be reflected on the bill.
“One of our major objectives at Tesco is to help customers manage their cost of living,” said Tesco Malaysia customer director Vivian Yap. “Scan & Shop takes this to the next level as it allows customers to view and determine the total value of their basket simply through the app, even before making their purchases, ” she added.
There are currently 59 Tesco stores that are equipped to support the app’s features. The 60th store, Tesco Extra Selayang, is expected to have the service available by June 2020.
The Scan & Shop app is available for Android and iOS devices. The company states that all future Tesco stores in Malaysia will feature support for the app.
