Last year saw the culmination of the Infinity Saga, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 21 film arc that saw The Avengers put an end to the Mad Titan Thanos. Avengers: Endgame was a superb event film — rousing, emotional and utterly spectacular. The film garnered widespread critical acclaim and became the highest-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office. Simply put, Endgame is the most pop-culturally relevant film this decade. Well, according to Chris Pratt, Jurassic World 3 will be the Avengers: Endgame of the Jurassic Park franchise.
While promoting Pixar’s Onward on Ellen, Pratt who stars in both the aforementioned franchises had this to say:
I’m not allowed to say anything… It’s got everybody. It’s got pretty much everybody in it. Maybe I just blew it, but I don’t care. But I know that all the cast from the original Jurassic Park is coming back. And so it’s going to feel very much how Endgame brought everything together.
I know the very mention of Jurassic World 3 in the same sentence as Avengers: Endgame is funny. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been producing quality films consistently for a decade while the Jurassic Park franchise hasn’t given us anything worth a dime since Steven Spielberg’s original in 1993. The latest of the lot, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom brought the franchise to its lowest point, as far as artistic merit is concerned.
That said, Chris Pratt didn’t say Jurassic World 3 is going to be as good as Avengers: Endgame. He merely used Endgame as an example to put things into perspective. After all, it’s been confirmed that the original trio of the Jurassic Park films will all be reprising their roles in Jurassic World 3. It certainly looks like it’s going to be a celebration of the 27-year-old franchise.
Jurassic World 3 is set for a 2021 summer release.
