Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Glass Screen Status Under Scrutiny After Going Through Scratch Test

Officially revealed to the world on 11 February alongside the Galaxy S20 series, Samsung has rolled out its new Galaxy Z Flip in selected markets throughout the world within the same week. Hence, it is not surprising that plenty of people has got their hands on the new foldable phone including famed YouTuber, Zack Nelson of JerryRigEverything.

Globally known for his gadget durability tests and teardowns, it goes without saying that Zack has put the new foldable phone through the same treatment. Interesting enough, scratches are already visible on the screen of Galaxy Z Flip right at level 2 of Zack’s scratch test with deeper grooves begin to appear at level 3.

Since Samsung has stated that the Galaxy Z Flip screen is made from glass, the screen should be able to withstand the scratch test at those levels and would only be damaged at level 5 or 6. Hence, Zack believes that Samsung shouldn’t labelled Galaxy Z Flip’s display as “glass screen” and could lead consumers to believe that the screen is as durable as real glass.

Despite the observations from the scratch test, the Galaxy Z Flip has actually managed to survive Zack’s bend test which has left a positive impression on the famed tech YouTuber. All in all, do exercise extra caution with the Galaxy Z Flip, should you own one in the future, because it seems that the phone’s screen is still not scratch-resistant although it does look more durable than Galaxy Fold.
