Well, this is something of an unexpected surprise. It appears that Sony has quietly launched the WF-H800 h.ear in 3, a new pair of wireless earbuds that seems to follow in the footsteps of the WF-1000XM3 and a part of Sony’s h.ear range of audio products.
One of the key differentiators between the WF-H800 and its slightly more premium sibling is its wider colour range; where the WF-1000XM3 was only available in black and silver, the new earbuds come in five shades. Blue, orange, red, black, and green.
As for its shape and design, the WF-H800 seems to harken back to the original WF-1000X, although it stands to reason that its audio quality and delivery will significantly be better than the muse. On that note, the official specs sheet says that the earbuds feature a Lightweight Tri-hold design for a more comfortable fit, 6mm neodymium drivers. Plus the same left and right Bluetooth 5.0 relay originally introduced in the WF-1000XM3.
Like the WF-1000XM3, the WH-F800 supports Sony’s DSEE HX only, with no Qualcomm aptX support in sight. And before you ask, yes, the earbuds also come with active noise-cancelling (we double-checked the specs sheet and confirmed that it actually doesn’t have ANC. Apologies.), as well as support for Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa.
Regarding its battery life, Sony says that the earbuds itself hold a charge enough for an eight-hour binge, while its casing holds just one additional charge. Giving you a total of 16 hours. Again, like the WF-1000XM3, the casing has fast-charging built-in, with a 10-minute quick charge giving users 70 minutes of playtime.
The Sony WF-H800 h.ear in 3 will available at all official Sony stores from 23 February onwards and will retail for RM849. For those of you who are interested, you can also preorder the earbuds via Sony’s online flagship store on Lazada.
