Remember the “Nintendo PlayStation” prototype from late last year? Reports back then indicated that the rare machine will be going up for auction in March. It looks like the auction has already started, with crazy bids for it.
At the time of writing, the highest bid was recorded at US$350000 (~RM1.45 million). According to Engadget’s report, the auction went live around Wednesday, and within 24 hours the bids went up to US$205000 (~RM849000). At the time, the person who placed the bid was Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey.
The current owner announced late last year that they would “let the market determine” the value of the machine. They have also turned down a prior US$1.2 million (~RM4.97 million) offer for the prototype console.
As it is now, the price of the Nintendo PlayStation prototype has already hit outrageous heights. Live bidding starts on 6 March, as according to previous reports. One can only imagine what kind of price this will ultimately be at.
Of course, if you want this piece of video gaming history, there’s still time for you to scrounge up the funds for it. Just be ready to exceed the US$1.2 million that was turned down before. No doubt the one who made the offer is willing to do so again as part of the auction.
