Well-known for its report on the state of mobile experience throughout the world, Opensignal has released yet another such report today. As opposed to speed and coverage as per what you might have seen before, the new report focused on mobile gaming experience.
Covering 100 countries throughout the world, the data collection took place from 10 October 2019 until 10 January 2020. Opensignal stated that they utilized games across various popular mobile game genres including sports, multiplayer online battle arena, and battle royale.
While the company didn’t reveal the full list of game titles that were used for the data collection, some names have been mentioned in the report including Fortnite, Pro Evolution Soccer, and Arena of Valor. Each country is given a rating from 0 to 100 as a representation of its mobile gaming experience.
Out of these 100 countries, Malaysia ranked 50th in the list with a score of 66.2 and a Fair rating. Within Southeast Asia, we were surpassed by Thailand and Vietnam in 42nd and 40th place respectively. Of course, there is also Singapore who is no 2 in the global list and just 0.2 points short of the leader, Netherlands.
Even though Malaysia’s mobile game experience is only rated as “fair” at the moment, there already plenty of mobile gamers in our market. Mobile game is already a lucrative segment in Malaysia which means the market might be able to grow even further if gamers can receive better experience.
