Huawei has announced that the Mate 30 Pro 5G will be made available in Malaysia starting from 7 February onwards. This is a rather interesting decision by the company given the fact that 5G network in Malaysia is not yet accessible to the public as commercial 5G deployment is expected to take place only in Q3 2020.
Regardless of that, seems that all the big telcos in Malaysia have no problem with that as Celcom, Maxis, and U Mobile will begin to offer the phone to consumers starting from 7 February onwards. Huawei Malaysia has also noted that Digi will be offering the phone to its customers very soon as well.
Powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 990 5G processor, the phone is able to support both Standalone (SA) and Non-Standalone (NSA) 5G implementation. If you have been following our report on 5G Demonstration Projects in Langkawi, you might able to recall of this 5G SA and NSA speed test which was done by TM using Mate 30 Pro 5G.
Come standard with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, the Mate 30 Pro 5G will be released with a price tag of RM 4,199. Customers that purchased the phone will be provided with free Huawei Wireless In-car SuperCharge charger and 1-year extended warranty.
