FiLMiC has officially released DoubleTake, an app that allows you to preview and record video from multiple cameras on an iPhone simultaneously. Prior to this, the feature was initially showcased at the iPhone 11 launch event in Cupertino back in September last year.
Originally, the DoubleTake feature was to be integrated as part of the existing FiLMiC Pro app. Due to it missing its initial release deadline, the company has released the feature as an independent app instead. The multi-cam DoubleTake mode will make its way to FiLMiC Pro later this year.
DoubleTake utilises the new iOS 13’s multi-cam video capability and visualises shots from all four cameras on the iPhone 11 Pro. From there, the app allows the user to pick two angles that they want to record from simultaneously.
The app provides you the choice of either recording in split-screen or picture-in-picture layout for your video. Furthermore, it lets you record them as a composite, or as separate clips which you can also piece together in a separate video editor app.
The DoubleTake app is currently available exclusively on the Apple App Store for free, and is only compatible with 2018 and 2019 iPhone models. The date of its integration to the FiLMiC Pro app has not been revealed yet, and it’s unconfirmed if the standalone app will be released for Android phones in the near future.
