Following its announcement as an independent company from Xiaomi, POCO has set things in motion by releasing a new teaser video to hype its return to the smartphone industry. Furthermore, the company’s GM has shed some light on when the company’s new smartphone will be released in a recent interview.
Speaking to NDTV, POCO general manager Chandolu Manmohan revealed that the successor to the Pocophone F1 is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2020. He added that the new device will be equipped with a top-end SoC and large RAM capacity, while offering the same value-for-money proposition as its predecessor.

However, did not reveal the name of the phone, but recent rumours have suggested that it will be named “POCO F2”. Manmohan also suggested that there would be one new model to begin the new era, but did not entirely disprove the recent reports of having multiple POCO phones in their lineup.
Interestingly enough, it’s also worth noting that the company has cunningly included an easter egg in the aforementioned teaser video. Twitter user and tech insider Xiaomishka points out that the name “POCO X2” is hidden in the video, which could be a hint of the upcoming phone’s name.

Guys, many of you watched the official video of the second season of #POCO. But, did you pay attention to this easter egg?? 😉POCO X2🤔 That sounds good, like Realme X2, or OPPO Find X2 pic.twitter.com/HpsRNzZX5G

Referring back to the GM’s refute to the rumours of being more than one POCO smartphone, there’s a possibility that the F2 and X2 are two completely different devices. Previous leaks indicated that the F2 would also be available in a Lite variant, but its authenticity remains questionable.
On the other hand, it’s also possible that the X2 would be the finalised name for the F1’s successor. Until we get further information from POCO themselves, your guess on this is as good as ours.
