Grab launched Asia’s first numberless payment card system, GrabPay Card, in Singapore back in December of last year. The card is planned to launch in the Philippines during the first quarter of 2020, and it seems that a Malaysian debut is to be expected as well.
According to Amanz.net, Grab Malaysia has shared that they are looking to introduce GrabPay Card locally within this year. However, they have not decided on a release date at this time.
GrabPay Card’s numberless approach prevents potential identity and financial theft, and the card itself is available in both digital and physical versions. The card is accepted within Mastercard’s worldwide network consisting of over 53 million merchants, and could be used to earn and redeem points as well.
Given that Grab Malaysia has shown interest in launching its numberless payment card system locally, it will only be a matter of time until an official announcement is made. As usual, we will keep our readers posted regarding this.
