Looks like it’s trailers galore! Sony Pictures has released a brand new trailer for Bloodshot. Based on a best-selling comic book series, Bloodshot stars Vin Diesel as a soldier who’s brought back from the dead through nanotechnology that allows to be faster, stronger and heal instantaneously. There is a catch though: The company that brought him back is messing around with his memories and are trying to keep him under their control to be used as a weapon. And of course, Mr. Bloodshot will open up a can of whoop-ass.
Look, I love comic book movies and always get excited when some of the smaller non-DC / Marvel comics get adapted. But man, the trailers have not impressed thus far. I think it’s mostly because of Vin Diesel, who’s one word — “family” — away from being the exact same character he is in the Fast & Furious franchise. Diesel is just one of those actors who immediately makes everything he’s in, apart from Guardians of the Galaxy, look like B-action movies.
That said, given the talent behind the camera, this could turn out to be a pleasant surprise. Bloodshot is written by Eric Heisserer, who was nominated for an Oscar for Arrival screenplay. But then again, he also went on to pen Bird Box, which was average at best. The script is also penned by Jeff Wadlow (Kick-Ass 2) and is directed by Dave Wilson who made one episode of Love, Death & Robots. The film also stars Guy Pearce, Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, Lamorne Morris, Toby Kebbell, and Talulah Riley.
Bloodshot opens in Malaysian cinemas 12 March 2020.
