John Krasinski’s (yes, the dude from The Office) Sci-Fi horror, A Quiet Place, was perhaps one of the biggest surprises of 2018, if not the decade. It’s a heart-racing, nerve-wracking, atmospheric, (mostly) silent film that provided me with one of the most unique cinematic experiences ever: profound silence. I remember sitting in a theatre two years ago, watching the film, being utterly terrified to even munch on my popcorn, in fear that the sound of my munching would trigger the alien creatures lurking in the woods. Everyone else in the cinema apparently felt the same way too.
It’s also a film that ended rather perfectly and certainly did not need a sequel. Alas, the film went on to gross over $US 340 million worldwide (including $US 2.4 million here in Malaysia) with a mere $US 17 million budget. A sequel was inevitable. And I must say, while I don’t need a sequel to the film, the trailer for A Quiet Place 2 / A Quiet Place Part II certainly does get me excited for it. AQP Part II is once again directed by John Krasinski, who also co-wrote the script alongside Scott Beck. Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds reprise their roles as the surviving members of the Abbott family alongside new additions like Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders) and Djimon Hounsou (Shazam, Captain Marvel).
Check out the cool trailer:
