In what seems to be a rather interesting rumour, Apple is apparently working to launch a gaming-centric Mac PC in 2020. The new product is apparently aimed at the esports market according to the report by a Taiwanese newspaper, United Daily News.
Despite the target market, the new gaming Mac apparently will carry a price tag of up to USD 5,000 (~RM 20,463) which squarely positioned the rumoured machine as a very high-end gaming product. Not only that, the report also pointed out that the machine could either be in the form of an MacBook or iMac.
While it is something of a general stereotype that consumers don’t buy Mac for gaming, Apple has actually intensified its gaming effort in 2019 by launching Apple Arcade back in September. The subscription service might feature games that seem to be aimed at iPhone and iPad users even through it does support other Apple products such as Apple TV and Mac, Apple Arcade is still a big commitment to the gaming segment by the company.
Then again, gaming PC and esports market is a different ballgame altogether. Well, let’s see how true this rumour is going to be as the new gaming-oriented Mac is expected to be announced at Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2020.
