As proven by Baby Yoda in The Mandalorian, it seems like the current fad of keeping certain franchises relevant is by introducing cute toddler characters. The next one to ride the wave is none other than the upcoming Sonic The Hedgehog live action movie.
If you haven’t figured it out yet, we now officially have Baby Sonic.
To be fair, it’s most likely the inclusion of Baby Sonic might have been part of the film’s story when it was still under production. If that’s the case, we thank the heavens that the film’s director, Jeff Fowler, actually listened to fan concerns regarding Sonic’s initial hideous character design and had it redone from scratch. Could you imagine Baby Sonic with that old design? Could you?
Moving on. Baby Sonic is first revealed in a new Sonic The Hedgehog movie trailer that was released in Japan. Along with the reveal are some new clips from the movie which was not included in the previous trailer that included Sonic’s redone character design. And of course, the voice lines in this version of the trailer is in Japanese as well.
Sonic The Hedgehog stars James Marsden as Sheriff Tom, Jim Carrie as Dr. Robotnic, and Ben Schwartz as the Blue Blur himself, Sonic the Hedgehog. The movie is expected to be released on 14 February 2020 (27 March in Japan).
