Xiaomi’s sub-brand Pocophone debut their first smartphone, the Pocophone F1, back in August of last year. According to several sources, the brand’s global head Alvin Tse stated in Twitter that the successor to their smartphone might finally see its release in 2020.
However, his tweet was then deleted moments after it was posted as a reply to another user. Based on the reports by GSMArena and NDTV, Tse simply wrote, “You will hear more from POCO in 2020,” which lead most to believe that Pocophone may be planning to unveil the F1’s successor next year.
The Pocophone F1 was proven to be a success and also well received, thanks to its affordable price and flagship-tiered performance. Despite of the phone’s achievements, the brand did not plan to release a successor in 2019, which left most to speculate that Xiaomi may have cast aside Pocophone in favour of promoting the Mi 9 smartphones.
It’s unknown to why Tse’s tweet was deleted, but it’s possible that Xiaomi may want the information to be kept under wraps until they’re ready for a proper announcement. Regardless, it did shed a bit of light on Pocophone’s future plan and has left fans excited to a possibility of seeing a new smartphone by the brand in the near future.
