There have been a number of previous rumours regarding the successor to the Samsung Galaxy Fold. Many of them pointed at a design closer to a clamshell. If recent images that surfaced online are to be believed, it may very well be the case.
Prominent leaker Ice Universe shared on Twitter what he claims to be shots of the next generation Samsung Galaxy Fold. They supposedly first surfaced on Chinese social media. There’s a fair amount of detail in the few shots, but most importantly, they reflect previous rumours of a clamshell.
While not quite a square, the supposed next Samsung Galaxy Fold does fold into a much smaller shape, making it easily pocketable. Unlike, say, the Motorola Razr, it folds symmetrically, so there’s no protruding chin. When unfolded though, it has a very elongated display, much like the Razr. It also comes with a punch hole camera in the middle. Around the display, the bezels are uniform, but definitely on the thick side by today’s standards.

There’s also an elongated button on the right, which is likely the volume rocker. Next to it though, there looks to be another button that protrudes a lot less from the body. There also seems to be a mono speaker grille and a USB-C charging port at the bottom, which are not surprising. And on the back, we see a dual camera setup with an LED flash.
Beyond that, it’s hard to make out any other details from the leaked shots. Here’s hoping previous reports of an April 2020 release is accurate, so that we can find out for sure if this is indeed the next Samsung Galaxy Fold.
