HONOR quietly rolled out its entry-level HONOR 8S smartphone. Much like the mid-range HONOR 8X and HONOR 9X, the phone sports a similar design pattern, albeit with slightly different hardware in specific areas.
To start, the HONOR 8S’ AllView display measures in at 5.71-inches with an 84.6% screen-to-body ratio. Moreover, the display is also certified for TUV Rheinland eye comfort, meaning that it has less emission of blue light than other displays.
Underneath the hood, the HONOR 8S is powered by a 12nm MediaTek MT6761 quad-core SoC that runs on a frequency of 2.0GHz. The chipset is helped along by 2GB of RAM, as well as a 3020mAh to keep it running. Internal storage capacity is, unfortunately, limited to just 32GB, but it is expandable by up to 512GB via the phone’s microSD card slot. On that note, the phone also supports dual SIM cards.
Moving to the HONOR 8S’ cameras, the phone’s main camera is a single 13MP f/1.8 sensor, which the selfie camera at the front is a 5MP sensor. Clearly, it’s not the best camera setup we’ve seen, but again, it’s an entry-level device.
On that note, the HONOR 8S is already available in Malaysia and retails at an SRP of RM399. You can purchase the phone at all HONOR outlets and authorised resellers in Malaysia, as well as via the brand’s official online store.
