Featuring luxurious cinema halls, contemporary dining and top-of-the-line service, the Aurum Theatre by Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) is now open in The Gardens Mall. The new ultra-luxe boutique cinema is the second of its kind in Malaysia, with the first previously launched at Mid Valley Southkey in Johor Bahru.
Named after the Latin word which translates to “gold”, Aurum offers cinema-goers a taste of golden age of cinema where they could enjoy movies while indulging in comfort and luxury. The cinema offers 8 halls in total, with 4 different premium experiences to choose from: Comfort Cabin, Getha Lux Suites, Escape Studio, and Private Screen.
The two Comfort Cabin halls in Aurum Theatre are reminiscent of the classic GSC Gold Class experience with some new touches of luxury. The hall’s “business class” seats allows movie-goers to recline comfortably, and is equipped with a side table that can be swiveled out when having meals or drinks. Each seat also comes with a wireless charger, personal lamp, and a drawer for belongings. A Getha blanket is also provided for added comfort.
For even more comfort and pampering, the Getha Lux Suites cinema halls offers just that. Instead of seats, the Getha Lux features luxurious bed-styled recliners which literally allows viewers enjoy movies while lying down. Each seat (or bed, rather) are exclusively crafted by Italian architect Marco Fumagalli, which are furnished with nano-silver antibacterial covers, plush pillows, and a silky fleece blanket. Other amenities include a side table with personal lamp, wireless and USB chargers, a storage compartment, and an in-hall service call button if you require assistance from the theatre’s hosts. The Aurum Theatre in The Gardens Mall has two Getha Lux Suites, with one featuring the Dolby Atmos sound system.
Escape Studio auditoriums are smaller, but offers cinema-goers three different themes for a comfortable yet stylish experience. The first auditorium is fashioned in Scandinavian hygge featuring minimalist furnishings which gives out a comfortable and cozy environment, the second Escape Studio features a colourful retro pop art theme inspired by Andy Warhol’s artworks and designs, and the final hall is decked out in vintage 1950s-esque decor reminiscent of Wes Anderson films. All three Escape Studio auditoriums provides a variety of seating options including LA-Z Boy rockers, IMG recliners, and even four-seater couches.
On the other hand, The Private Screen auditorium is the perfect place for private screenings, as well as business functions and family gatherings. The auditorium is furnished with luxurious recliners, sofas, and even chandeliers for classy gatherings. It’s capable of hosting up to 20 persons, and also includes a standalone bar with a dedicated host that serves food and drinks.
On top of enjoying a movie in comfort and luxury, guests who’ve booked an Aurum Pass are also eligible to enjoy an extravagant dining experience at the theatre’s full-service restaurant, the Jin Gastrobar. The restaurant serves a variety of cuisines including curated meal platters, as well as ala carte dishes. Viewers are advised to visit Jin Gastrobar at least 45 minutes earlier to enjoy their food and drink before a movie, while they could alternatively order a meal to be delivered directly to their seat as well.
Aurum Passes for Comfort Cabin and Escape Studio halls are priced at RM120 per seat, while Getha Lux Suites are at RM150. Private Screen rates are subject to booking availability with Aurum Theatre.
For those interested in experiencing GSC’s Aurum Theatre for themselves, Aurum Passes for The Gardens Mall and Mid Valley Southkey branches are now available via the GSC website or mobile app. Passes are also available for sale directly from Aurum Theatre’s Concierge Counter or e-Kiosk.
