We’re getting another Ghostbusters movie in 2020! Directed by Jason Reitman (Thank You For Smoking) based on a script co-written by Reitman and debutant Gil Kenan, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a direct sequel to the original two Ghostbusters films that came out in the 80s. And strap on your seatbelts and hold on tight because yes, the likes of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts reprise their roles from the original films, alongside new additions like Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd and Finn Wolfhard (of course). If the trailer is anything to go by, the film will be very reminiscent of Stranger Things and IT.

What about the 2016 film?! Well, while the film did receive mostly decent reviews, it did not perform well at the box office at all, grossing a disappointing $US 229 million worldwide, from a $US 144 million budget. So naturally, we weren’t going to get a sequel to that film. However, seeing as we are living in the era of reboots, remakes and sequels, Sony decided to once again go back to the well, this time opting for what seems to be a safer option.
