OnePlus was known for its “flagship killer” prices back in the day. The brand then joined it the price range of other flagship devices, starting with the OnePlus 7 Pro that featured a 90Hz display. It looks like it may be going back to making lower-cost phones, according to leaks of a so-called OnePlus 8 Lite.
OnLeaks and 91Mobiles have posted renders of what they believe the upcoming phone will look like. From the renders, it looks like the OnePlus 9 Lite will feature a more traditional flat display rather than a curved one. The display itself is believed to measure in at 6.4 or 6.5 inches and to come with a fingerprint sensor. That said, it’s unlikely to have a 90Hz refresh rate.
The back of the OnePlus 8 Lite will likely still come with curved glass despite not having it in front. The phone is also believed to come with two rear cameras, and a punch hole camera in front. As for the other sides, it looks like the phone will have a USB-C port, but no 3.5mm audio jack.
If the leaks are true, it would mean an exciting return to more familiar price brackets for OnePlus’ fans. As mentioned earlier, OnePlus devices have been steadily increasing in their prices ever since the OnePlus 7 Pro. The OnePlus 8 Lite may not necessarily reverse this trend. But at least it presents an option to those who prefer the prices of old.
