MSI’s new AMD-centric gaming notebook, the Alpha 15, is now officially available in Malaysia. First announced in October, the notebook is the brand’s first notebook to be completely powered by both AMD’s 2nd generation Ryzen mobile CPU and 7nm Radeon Navi GPU.
For a quick recap of the hardware, the CPU underneath the hood is a Ryzen 7-3750H, while the dedicated GPU is a Radeon RX 5500M with 4GB GDDR6 graphics memory. To help it chug along, the Alpha 15 is also fitted with 16GB DDR4 RAM running at a frequency of 2666MHz. For storage, the notebook ships out with 512GB NVMe PCIe SSD and 2.5-inch SATA HDD
The output of the Alpha 15 comes in the form of a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS thin-bezel display, with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. Because it’s an all-AMD notebook, the display also supports AMD’s Radeon FreeSync anti-tearing technology. Ports-wise, the Alpha 15 features a USB-C 3.2 Gen1, three USB 3.2 Type-A Gen1, RJ45 LAN, a MicroSD card slot, one HDMI 2.0b port, and a mini DisplayPort.
Moving on, MSI is offering customers the choice of having a basic backlit keyboard with a single colour (it’s red), or have it fitted with the brand’s per-key RGB keyboard that you’ll find in the brand’s other gaming notebook series’.
The MSI Alpha 15 is already available at all MSI retail outlet and official resellers. The notebook retails for RM4799.
