In addition to unveiling the flagship Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm has also taken the opportunity to announce another set of new products at the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019 in Hawaii earlier today. They come in the form of two processors: the Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G.
Similar to the Snapdragon 865, Qualcomm didn’t provide any in-depth details regarding both chips during the announcement today. Instead, the company only reveals bits of information with more to be made available later this week.
Among such information is the fact that both chips will come with an integrated Snapdragon X52 5G modem. This in general marked the beginning of Qualcomm’s effort to provide the availability of 5G in the lower tier of the market since the Snapdragon 7-series processors are meant for the mid-range market.
Just like the higher-end Snapdragon X55 5G modem, the Snapdragon X52 supports plenty of 5G technologies such as mmWave, sub-6, non-standalone and standalone modes, dynamic spectrum sharing, and 5G carrier aggregation. With a peak download speed of 3.7Gbps, the support for existing technologies such as LTE, 3G, and 2G is also present on the modem.
Aside from that, the Snapdragon 765 and 765G are said to be able to support camera with resolutions of up to 192MP. Also equipped with an CV-ISP that comes with hardware accelerated computer vision capabilities, these chips are also apparently able to support camera with resolutions of up to 192MP while having enough firepower to capture 4K60 HDR+ videos.
The Snapdragon 765 and 765G are also equipped with 5th Gen AI Engine that able to deliver AI performance of up to 5 TOPS. Qualcomm also stated that these two chips will mark the debut of Snapdragon Elite Gaming features in Snapdragon 7-series processors although there is no further clarifications about them from the company at this moment.
As mentioned earlier, more details regarding the new Snapdragon 765 and 765G will be revealed by Qualcomm later this week. So, stay tuned.
