Ever wanted to move stuff you uploaded to Facebook elsewhere, without first downloading them? It looks like that will soon be possible. Reuters reports that the social media company has announced the option to move photos and videos directly to other services. The first other service is Google Photos.
That said, it’s not something you can do immediately, unless you live in Ireland. The option is now available there, with a worldwide rollout planned for the first half of 2020.
The option will be located in the same spot where you can download your information in Facebook settings. You’ll also be asked for your password before the transfer starts, and all data transferred will be encrypted.
The company says that it is still currently testing the tool, and will continue to refine it based on user feedback. As it is, it’s unclear if the worldwide rollout will be simultaneous, or if Facebook intends to make it a gradual process.
