Alongside the launch of Kraken Ultimate which features the THX Spatial Audio, Razer has also introduced a USB-based variant for its existing Kraken X gaming headset. As you might be able to recall, the original Kraken X utilizes 3.5mm audio jacks.
In terms of design, the new USB model looks pretty much identical to the analogue version. Weights at around 275 grams, Razer has also retained memory foam ear cushion and soft headband padding on Kraken X USB.
Similarly, the Kraken X USB also able to deliver 7.1 surround sound through its custom-tuned 40mm Neodynium magnet drivers. Other than that, the headset also carries a bendable cardioid microphone, alongside dedicated volume dial and microphone mute switch.
Even though it is USB-powered, this model doesn’t come with the fame Razer Chroma customizable RGB lighting setup though. However, there is still an illuminated Razer logo (in green, nevertheless) on each side of its earcups which help differentiate the Kraken X USB and its analogue counterpart.
Curiously, the Kraken X USB is priced at RM 269 which is similar to the older 3.5mm models at Razer’s online store. If you prefer to obtain Kraken X USB through a physical store, do check out with your favourite retailer for its actual on-ground arrival date.
