WhatsApp recently updated its Business app, enabling business owners to open up a mobile storefront on the messaging app. With this update, potential customers can browse the catalogue of products sold by businesses solely through an entrepreneur’s WhatsApp account.
Naturally, the catalogue displays the products with descriptions and price for customers’ references. Prior to the update, entrepreneurs on WhatsApp would have to send a large collection of their products in different image formats to customers.
With the update, business owners will also be able to pinpoint the exact product with its description and price. Avoiding any confusion. Also, the catalogues are hosted on WhatsApp servers to save valuable storage space.
WhatsApp Business first came to light back on mid-2017, before officially launching the year after. Since the update, WhatsApp users are able to see business details such as opening hours, locations, and can see a business WhatsApp account with descriptions of their business including opening hours and locations.
The catalogue update is not yet available in Malaysia. For now, it is only available in Brazil, Germany, India, Indonesia, Mexico, the UK and the US.
However, the app’s parent company, Facebook has mentioned that it plans on bringing the update to other countries in the near future. On a side note, there are no mentions of the WhatsApp payment system that was first introduced in India.
