5G is not even mainstream yet, and we have reports of 6G being researched. According to a report by China’s Science and Technology Daily, which is published by the country’s Minstry of Science and Technology, the country has begun researching the sixth-generation telecoms tech.
The daily reports that government ministries and research institutes met earlier in the week to establish a national 6G research and development group. This looks to be separate from the research that’s being conducted by Huawei, at its R&D centre in Ottawa, Canada.
This marks a national effort by the country, in addition to the efforts of the tech giant. Samsung also has its own 6G research going on under its Research division. Its R&D centre in Seoul will also be working on AI and robotics.
Despite seemingly many who have already begun research on 6G, we should probably not worry about it too much. After all, we’ll only be getting 5G proper in Malaysia in 2021 at its earliest.
