Samsung has had many reports regarding its second generation foldable phone. The earlier ones even involved patents depicting a phone that folds vertically like a clamshell. The Korean tech giant has now unveiled a new concept video based on this.
The video itself is essentially devoid of any details, save for one. The last eight seconds of the video demonstrates the changing orientation of a video being played when the foldable phone is, well, folded. Beyond that, it essentially serves as an invitation for developers to explore new use case scenarios.

Earlier patents pertinent to this concept described a phone around the size of the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G when unfolded, and a pocketable square when folded. Previous reports also indicated that such a phone may be announced in as early as April 2020.
That said, Samsung has not revealed anything for now that supports that assertion. Thus, it remains to be seen if the company will indeed announce a foldable phone in a clamshell form factor next year.
