Pokemon battles have always been a staple of a Pokemon trainer, apart from catching them as well. For Pokemon GO trainers, you will soon be able to flaunt your best Pokemon now that an online battle mode is being prepped for a 2020 release.
Niantic, the company behind Pokemon GO, recently announced that it will be adding the feature to the game soon. The game mode will officially be known as GO Battle League and as per the official announcement, it will allow Trainers to do battle via the internet.
Are you a #GOBattle champion among your group of friends, Trainer? How about compared to the rest of the world? 🤔🌎

However, this does not mean that you will be able to participate in battles as easily as from your home. As the game was designed to be played outdoors, you will still need to walk around in order to earn an entry to the GO Battle League.
Additionally, there will be an online matchmaking system to set trainers together for battles and will be ranked. It is not mentioned how the battle’s mechanics will work out, but Niantic has promised a special insight video to unveil the battling feature.
Besides the addition of an online battle mode, Niantic has also made other changes to Pokemon GO’s battle mechanics. Beyond that, we’ll just have to wait until next year to see the fruits of Niantic’s labour. In the meantime, this is probably the best time to start training that Charizard for the league.
