The Samsung Galaxy Fold only recently became available locally, and we already have reports of the sequel launching next year. According to TechRadar, Korean financial publication The Bell reported that Samsung is expected to announce the second generation foldable device in April 2020.
There have been a fair number of previous reports regarding a possible Samsung Galaxy Fold 2. Patents depicted multiple possible designs for the phone. The earliest of them described a device the size of a Galaxy S10 5G when unfolded, and a square when folded.
New details about the potential sequel have surfaced as well, courtesy of Korean publication ETNews. The report states that the company may use scratch-resistant ultra-thin-glass to protect the display of the second-generation foldable phone. The current, first-generation Galaxy Fold uses a polyimide (PI) layer instead.
An April release also suggests that the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will be announced a little after the Galaxy S11. Whether that’s really the case, we’ll have to wait for confirmation from the company itself.
