Epic Games has finally opened the gates for Fortnite Chapter 2 after having its players staring at a black hole for almost two days. The major update brings changes to the island, new features, game mechanics, and a whole bunch of new skins.
First off, the map now ties in with the game mechanics as the island is split between mountains and also waters where players can swim across or do some fishing. As an earlier leak detailed, there are now boats for players to use, either as a means of travel or as a combat vehicle.
In keeping with Fortnite tradition, Fortnite Chapter 2 will introduce an entire armoury of new weapons every season. As a change of pace, the armoury now includes a bandage bazooka that players can use to heal allies simply by shooting them. If this sounds familiar, it’s probably because the action sounds very similar to the Medic in Team Fortress 2.
Fortnite Chapter 2 will also enable players to carry their downed teammates in order to escape to safety. There are also more explodable assets such as barrels and gas tanks put in place to keep the campers away. Oh, and you can find the new upgrade bench on the island if you’re looking at kicking your weapons up a notch.
Chapter 2 has also revamped the Battle Pass system. Players now are required to complete challenges in order to boost their Battle Pass progress level. Some challenges include participating in fishing at Sweaty Sands, searching for chests, getting kills to progress further. Also, Battle Pass levels have now been extended up to 250.
Last but not least, Solo, Duo, and Squad playlists have made a comeback, and Trios is now a default option within the main game. For players who are either unable to form a full squad or just want to take on other players in a group of three.
