Just days after launching Redmi Note 8 series in our market, Xiaomi today has announced the availability of another new device for our market, in the form of Redmi 8. While the Country Manager of Xiaomi Malaysia, Allen An has already confirmed early on that the phone is indeed heading our way, today’s announcement still caught us by surprise though as Redmi 8 has just been revealed to the world earlier this week.
For those who not familiar with the device, the Redmi 8 is equipped with a 6.22-inch HD+ display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 alongside up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. It also carries a dual rear camera system with 12MP main camera and 2MP depth sensor as well as an 8MP selfie camera.
Another main attraction of the new Redmi 8 is its massive 5000mAh battery. The phone is able to support up to 18W fast charger although the charger that Xiaomi has included in the box maxed out at 10W.
Available starting from 12 October onwards, Redmi 8 with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at RM 599 while the 3GB/32GB variant will be released slightly later on 18 October for RM 499.
In conjunction of the launch, each purchase of Redmi 8 4GB/64GB variant on 12 October through Official Mi Stores in Lazada and Shopee as well as Authorised Mi Stores throughout Malaysia will also be accompanied by a free Mi Compact Bluetooth Speaker 2.
