Even though the company has just launched plenty of new devices for the past few weeks including Redmi TV, Mi Mix Alpha, Redmi 8A and Redmi Note 8 (which is coming to Malaysia this week), Xiaomi is not done yet. Over in India yesterday, the company has added a new model into its stable by announcing the Redmi 8.
Equipped with a 6.22-inch HD+ IPS display, the Redmi 8 is running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor and is available with up to 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB internal storage. Housed within the display’s notch is an 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera.
The Redmi 8 also comes with a dual rear camera system on its back that includes a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor and f/1.8 lens on its main camera, alongside a 2MP depth sensor. A 5000mAh battery with support for up to 18W fast charger completed the phone’s general specifications.
In terms of pricing, the Redmi 8 with 4GB/64GB configuration has a standard price tag for INR 10,999 (~RM 650). However, Xiaomi will be offering it at INR 7,999 (~RM 473) to celebrate the device’s global debut in India.
The phone’s launch date in Malaysia is not yet known at the moment although during a media Q&A at the Redmi Note 8 series launch, the Country Manager of Xiaomi Malaysia, Allen An has confirmed that Redmi 8 is coming to our market very soon. So, stay tuned.
