Following the teasers that the company has posted since a few weeks ago, Xiaomi today has officially launched the Redmi Note 8 series in Malaysia which is apparently the first country outside of China to receive it. Depending on respective models, consumers able to get their hands on the new phones starting from 12 October onwards.
Leading the series is the Redmi Note 8 Pro which Xiaomi claimed as the first phone in Malaysia to carry a 64MP camera which consisted of a Samsung ISOCELL GW1 sensor that is pair together with f/1.89 lens. The phone also features an 8MP ultra wide-angle, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth cameras as well as a 20MP f/2.0 selfie camera.
Aside from the 64MP camera, the Redmi Note 8 Pro also marked the debut of the equally new MediaTek Helio G90T processor in Malaysia. Also equipped with 6.53-inch LTPS in-cell display, NFC capability, and 4500mAh battery, the phone comes standard with 6GB RAM and 18W fast charger in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, the non-Pro version of Redmi Note 8 is also being made available in our market. With a noticeably different physical design, the phone still carries quad rear camera setup but with lower resolution Samsung ISOCELL GM1 48MP sensor for its main camera and a 13MP selfie camera.
The standard variant of Redmi Note 8 is also powered by a different processor in the form of Qualcomm Snapdragon 665. The phone is also equipped with 4000mAh battery that is able to support 18W fast charger although the charger that Xiaomi has included in the box is rated lower at 10W.
In terms of price, the Redmi Note 8 Pro 128GB goes for RM 1,199 while the 64GB model is available for RM 1,099. As for the non-Pro model, the 3GB/32GB variant is priced at RM 599 while the 4GB/64GB and 4GB/128GB models can be obtained for RM 799 and RM 899 respectively.
Not enough with the affordable pricing, Xiaomi also has some early bird deals for these Redmi Note 8 devices. For example, the company is offering the new Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic for Redmi Note 8 with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage for pre-order customers.
Other than that, the Redmi Note 8 Pro 64GB variant will be offered at RM 999 instead of its standard price tag of RM 1,099. On another hand, customers that pre-order the Redmi Note 8 Pro 128GB model will receive a Black Shark Gaming Controller.
