The brand’s footprint might not as big as before but that doesn’t mean Sony Mobile already throwing the towel to the ground though. For the past few months, the company have actually unveiled new devices including the flagship duo Xperia 1 and Xperia 5.
Interesting enough, the company is not done yet for 2019. Earlier this week, Sony Mobile has quietly unveiled a new model called Xperia 8 which essentially a mid-range model that carries plenty of noticeable design characteristics of its older and higher-end siblings.
For starters, there’s the now-signature 21:9 aspect ratio display which is equipped with 6.0-inch Full HD+ Triluminos panel. The Xperia 8 also comes with the dedicated Side Sense button which a feature that was originally introduced with Xperi XZ3.
As for other parts of the phone, the Xperia 8 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 630, 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, and 2760mAh battery that supports 18W fast charger. Instead of a triple rear camera system, the phone features a more modest dual camera setup with 12MP f/1.8 and 8MP f/2.4 cameras alongside an 8M f/2.0 selfie camera.
Also designed to withstand dust and water under the IP65/IP68 standard, the Xperia 8 will be only available in Japan for the time being though with a price tag of JPY 54,000 (~RM 2,108). For Xperia fans in Malaysia, they have to be content with the higher-end Xperia 1 and Xperia 5.
