According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo , Apple may be reviving the iPhone SE, possibly with the next-generation A13 processor. This supports an earlier one that suggests a new low-cost iPhone will be released in 2020.
The previous rumour indicated that the new iPhone SE will feature the design of the iPhone 8. This suggests that it will include the Touch ID fingerprint sensor on the home button and thick bezels on the top and bottom of the display. Kuo says its specs will also be similar to the iPhone 8, but with the aforementioned A13 chip and 3GB of RAM.
While he did not mention a specific price, Kuo also predicts that it will be more affordable than the other current iPhones. As a reference, the first iPhone SE with 16GB configuration was priced at US$399 (~RM1,668) in the US during the initial launch and RM1,699 for Malaysian markets.
Furthermore, Kuo also mentioned that the target market for the low-cost iPhone is mainly for iPhone 6 users as the iPhone 6 and 6s are not listed to upgrade to iOS 13. He notes that there may be a “replacement demand” for users who want to jump into the latest Apple ecosystem.
As speculations come by every now and then, it is still best to take it with a pinch of salt. While it’s speculated to be released in the first quarter of 2020 ,we should wait and see if Apple will actually make any announcement regarding a new iPhone SE.
