Earlier yesterday, serial leakster Evan Blass (@evleak) posted several image renders of Microsoft’s range of alleged Surface devices, just a day before its official event. Now, Blass’ latest leak suggests that the company will be announcing Windows 10X, a variant of the OS designed for dual-screen devices.
Of course, the dual-screen device being referenced here is the rumoured dual-screen Surface display, codenamed “Centaurus”, that will reportedly be making its debut during Microsoft’s big event. According to Blass, Centaurus will be running on the new Windows 10X OS. In addition, he also says that the OS might run applications in “containers”, whatever that may mean.
Beyond the tweet, Blass doesn’t seem to provide any additional information or images of the supposed dual-screen Surface, and Microsoft seems to be playing this card very close to its chest. It’s an understandable case, especially after the massive image leak of its Surface lineup.
We’ll be on the ground covering Microsoft’s Surface event, which kicks off at 10pm tonight, so keep an eye out for our coverage of the event.
