Ever since its official announcement back in 2016, fans have been anticipating the release of The Last of Us: Part II. After three years of waiting, the game finally gets a release date. It was announced during Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE)’s Days of Play livestream.
The announcement came through a new story trailer, which tells us a little more about Ellie’s motivations throughout the game. And with all that has been revealed by all the trailers so far, the second game looks to be just as much of an emotional roller coaster as the first game. And at the very end of it, the trailer revealed the game’s release date of 21 February, 2020.
Coming over five years after the first game, The Last of Us: Part II is also set to take place five years after the events of the first. Ellie and Joel switch roles with each other, with the former now the protagonist and player-controlled character.
There’s still about five months before the game becomes available. Now’s as good a time as any to play the first game for a quick refresher on the plot.
