You might have heard of the data breach that happened to Malindo Air a few days ago. Earlier today, the airline has provided some update regarding the incident through an official announcement on its website.
According to the airline’s investigation, the data breach was not caused by the security aspect of its own data architecture or Amazon Web Services. Instead, two ex-employees of GoQuo (M) Sdn Bhd which is Malindo Air’s e-commerce services provider have been identified as the culprits.
Both personnel have apparently accessed and stole the data at the company’s development centre in India. Hence, the matter has since been reported to the relevant authorities of both Malaysian and India.
Even though Malindo Air has pointed out that no payment details were involved in the incident, the airline has decided to initiate the auto-reset procedure for all of its customers’ password anyway. Hence, you might want to set a new password for your Malindo Air account as soon as possible.
