Sony always has something new to showcase at IFA Berlin and things are no different at this year’s event. Among the latest products that the Japanese technology giant has launched at IFA 2019 includes a brand-new smartphone called Xperia 5.
Originally rumoured as the successor to Xperia 1, the device turned out to be a slightly smaller phone that carries plenty of features from the flagship device. Alongside its 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED display with 21:9 aspect ratio, the Xperia 5 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, triple 12MP cameras on its back, 8MP front camera, and a 3140mAh battery.
Fast forward to yesterday, it turns out that Xperia 5 has been certified for release by SIRIM, as highlighted by reader Mohd Ridzuan on our Facebook page:
We then immediately reached out to Sony Malaysia’s representative who has confirmed that the Xperia 5 will indeed be released in our market. However, the phone’s actual launch date and pricing will only be announced at a later date as the company is still finalizing the phone’s launch for Malaysia.
Even though Xperia 1 has been confirmed for release in Malaysia prior to today’s revelation, we are still surprised that Sony did the same for Xperia 5 as well, given what the company has said during a presentation back in May.
Nevertheless, do stay tuned for more updates regarding the imminent arrival of Xperia 5 in Malaysia coming your way very soon.
